O fortunate youth! These are wills that I shall advise you, an advice of love and compassion, that if you take it, it shall be the cause for your well-being and the reason for your victory, and your heedfulness in your world and your hereafter.
1. Guard Your Obligations
It is obligatory upon you – O youth – that you guard the obligations of Islam and the duty of the deen with complete adherence, especially the obligatory solah (prayers), for verily the solah is a protection for you from evil and falsehood. Indeed the solah will incite you to perform goodness and reper for you from evil and falsehood.
2. Be Close To The Scholars
It is obligatory upon you – O youth – that you become close to the People of Knowledge or the Senior Scholars, listen to their words, seek guidance from their fatwas, take benefit from their knowledge, consult them on important issues.
3. Fulfill Your Parents’ Rights
It is obligatory upon you – O youth – that you become of those who fulfil the rights of others which Allah has ordained upon you. The most important rights to be fulfilled are the rights of your parents, for indeed it is a huge responsibility.
4. Stay United, Do Not Rebel
It is obligatory for you – O youth – that you obey the leaders (authorities), for in it there is security. As for the committing treachery against the leaders, breaking away from the muslim community, disobeying them, verily, it will not free oneself but bring them towards evil and devastation.
5. Always Remember Allah
It is obligatory upon you – O youth – that you spend your days and nights protecting your soul by remembering Allah Jalla wa ‘Alaa. Be consistent reciting the appointed adzkaar (remembrance) in the morning, in the evening, at the end of each solah, when entering, when exiting, when riding a vehicle, and others. Verily the remembrance of Allah is a protection from syaitaan and a guardian from harm and calamities.
6. Rest Your Heart With The Qu’ran
It is obligatory upon you – O youth – that you fix a daily routine with the Qur’an to make your heart tranquil, for verily the Book of Allah is a tranquility and joy for the hearts, in this life and in the akhirah.
الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ اللَّـهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّـهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ
“Those who believe, and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah, Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” – [Ar-Ra’d:28]
7. Be Amongst The Good
It is obligatory upon you – O youth – that you get close to good companions and pious friends, and you become distant from the people of evil and corruption; for surely by getting close to them is destruction.
8. Engage in Du’as
It is obligatory upon you – O youth – that you engage more in du’as (supplications) towards Allah Azza wa Jalla, so that He will make you stand firm upon the truth and upon guidance, and protect you from evil and destruction. For certainly du’as are the keys to every good in this world and in the hereafter.
9. Be Careful of The Internet
It is obligatory upon you – O youth – that you be very wary of the mediums that attack the youth from within, especially from the internet, to ensure the well-being of your religion and your life affairs, and well-being is very priceless.
10. You Will Be Held Accountable
It is obligatory upon you – O youth – that you always remember, that you will surely one day stand in front of Allah and will be asked about your youth, on what has passed and what has been done.
قَالُوا إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبْلُ فِي أَهْلِنَا مُشْفِقِينَ ﴿٢٦﴾ فَمَنَّ اللَّـهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَانَا عَذَابَ السَّمُومِ
“Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire.” [At-Tur:26-27]
I ask Allah Azza wa Jalla may He preserve you as he preserved His obedient slaves.
